After a long day of sightseeing, walking and maybe even picnicking, you’ll be left feeling quite thirsty. The only thing you’ll be able to think about is relaxing and having a nice cold glass of Pinot. So, a drink before dinner could be the answer. Here we’ve chosen two bars that are definitely ‘molto simpatici’, or pleasant as we would say in English.
Bar del Fico: a perfect start to the night.
The ‘Bar del Fico’ is situated in the small Piazza del Fico, not far from Piazza Navona. This bar is ideal for a couple of drinks before heading to a restaurant. The prices are quite reasonable and there’s always free aperitifs to pick at (you won’t be able to resist). Its large and sunny terrace awaits you…

Vineria Il Chianti: The wine experts
If you’re lucky enough to find a space on the bustling terrace, this bar is the perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine (the type that’ll make you feel like you’re in heaven). The wine bar offers an extensive list of wine which will have you considering spending the entire duration of your holiday there. The service is friendly, fast and efficient and the atmosphere on the ‘Via del Lavatore’ avenue is truly magnificent.

Be careful though, the strength of the wine matches its taste!

A great new opportunity is bubbling right in the centre of Rome. Young travellers from all over the world are meeting, sharing experiences and having fun. The great Rome pub-crawl is here! I recently made the most amazing discovery; there’s an array of companies in Rome that organise pub-crawls for young, although there’s no rule, travellers.
You meet in a well known area, outside the Coliseum for example, have a few drinks while waiting for everyone to arrive and then get going to some bars. What most of the organisers do is charge around 20 euros and this includes a t-shirt, lots of free alcohol, discounted rates in bars, free entrance into a club, water and quite importantly, some food!
This is one of the best ways to get to know Rome’s nightlife and to experience local Rome, through the eyes of some well informed experts on the nightlife of the eternal city. You’d probably have visited the Coliseum, the Vatican and the Basilica, so why not do the nightlife too? This is the best way to get to know people from all over the world, make some friends, experience new things and to most importantly, have some fun! After all, that is what travelling is all about.
