Location Description

S'Agaro is a village situated at the Costa Brava and forms part of the community of Castell d'Aro. It is located between the coastal towns Platja d'Aro and Sant Feliu de Guixols. Besides it extremly small size, there were only 12 inhabitants in 1981, it was one of the first centre of holiday houses at the Costa Brava. The heart of S'Agaro lays 2km in the north east of Sant Feliu de Guixols and its little small streets smoothly lead to the beach of S'Agaro. Until 1920, S'Agaro was composed of some goats and little fisher cottages to protect the fisher of rain. In 1924, the architect Rafael Maso proposed a design for ubanisation of S'Agaro. In 1932 the Hotel La Gavina was constructed and some ten years later the church was built and in 1958 a conection between the beaches of Sant Pol and Sa Conca were developed. In the beach of S'Agaro a Sailing school offers classes in all kind of water activities. In summer the church of S'Agaro organises a music festival.
