Playa de Aro situated at the Costa Brava, forms part of the community Castell d'Aro. Over the last year Playa de Aro has developed alot due to the increasing tourism to the Costa Brava. Playa de Aro offers great varity of leisure facilities with a lively nightlife. There are several beaches with invite to spent some time, relax, go swimming or do all kind of water sports. By the Port d'Aro and up to the mouth of the river Ridaura the beach of the Port d'Aro is located. Here classes of sailing or surfing are offered. Just behind the mouth of the river Ridaura into the Mediterranean Sea beginns the long and wide corse-grained sandy beach called Gran de Playa d'Aro which goes up to the peak Rocosa, a granite monolith named Cavall Bernat now a symbol of the area. At the peak D'En Ramis when it opens into the bay Cala Rovira o Can Artigas there is a change in countryside. It is also a beach with corse-grained sand and a little river opens in the Mediterranean Sea. At the end of the by the peak Rovira with a rich vegetation dominated by pine trees develops is separated from the coast by a tongue of sand called El Xuclador.
