Description of the Hotel
Built in 1891 and renovated in 2006, this air-conditioned hotel comprises a total of 163 rooms including 35 suites spread over a 5-storey main building and a 6-storey neighbouring building. There is an impressive foyer with a 24-hour reception desk, a hotel safe, a currency exchange facility, a cloakroom, a lift, boutiques and a hairdressing salon. There is also a TV room, a bar, a games room, conference facilities and a restaurant available for use. Public WLAN Internet access is available (fees apply) as well as room and laundry services. Younger guests may participate in the kids' club activities and let some steam off in the children's playground. A car park and a garage round up the facilities on offer.
Location description
This very traditional, exclusive luxury hotel lies high on a mountain at the end of a landscape dominated by steep cliffs and surrounded by a large garden. Guests are able to enjoy a wonderful view over the Bay of Funchal and the beach can be reached in a few minutes on foot. Numerous shopping possibilities and public transport links lie within a few metres of the hotel. The town centre with its various nightclubs and bars is around 1m from the hotel. The airport is about 20 km from the hotel.
Description of the rooms
The luxurious rooms come with an en suite bathroom with hairdryer, a direct dial telephone, an Internet connection, a radio and satellite/cable TV. Further fittings include a minibar, a double or king-size bed, a seating area, a balcony and a hire safe. In addition, air conditioning and heating are also provided.

The outdoor complex offers 2 pools, of which one is a saltwater pool, a sun terrace with sun loungers, parasols and a pool/ snack bar. From the airport: when leaving the airport take the Cota 200 motorway towards Funchal. Follow this road for around 20 km until reaching Funchal Hospital and Porto exit. Turn off here and follow this road until arriving at a roundabout. Take the 2nd turning on the right towards the Hospital and Avenida do Mar until reaching the traffic lights. Turn right pass the bridge, the hotel is on the left side on number 139 of Estrada Monumental.
