Location Description
Siena is situated 322 meters above sea level, in the heart of the Tuscan region, known throughout the world for its art heritage and medieval urban decoration, to the point that UNESCO declared it Patrimony of the Humanity. Located in the centre of an extensive landscape of hills, between the valleys of the Arbia, Merse and Elsa Rivers and among the hills of the Chianti, the Montagnola and the Crete Senesi, in the heart of Tuscany. Among the numerous attractions of the city, it is necessary to emphasize the University of Siena's Studies which is one of the oldest Italian universities, founded in 1247 and recognized for the faculties of law and medicine. Nevertheless, Siena is known for its festivals and competitions, especially Palio, which is celebrated every year between July 2nd and August 16th in the Plaza del Campo.
