Location Description
The so-called "Ringelnatz" town of Wurzen is one of the oldest towns in the free state of Saxony and, as opposed to the city of Leipzig, offers a little contemplation. Historically superior. City, 27 km east from Leipzig, 76 km north-west from Dresden. In the resort: supermarket, shops, restaurant, attractions. Indoor pool. Access: railway station in the resort. For arrivals by plane: airport Leipzig-Halle (LEJ) 47 km, Dresden (DRS) 86 km. The town is dominated by its castel and cathedral in the town centre, but also by numerous Renaissance and Baroque buildings. The extensive, natural riverland meadows are characteristic of the Muldetal valley countryside and above all, the well-preserved castles with their well-tended parks and gardens, giving the region the nickname "Tal der Burgen" (valley of castles).
